It seems that I have not updated my Journal for over a year, so I guess I have a lot to tell you guys.
I went through my first year at York University in Toronto in the Fine Arts Cultural Studies program and I had a blast (I didn't like the program so much though - it's more about the study of art as opposed to the creation of art). I met a lot of new people and made a lot of new friends. Even though I had originally intended to go to University for Film, I had a change of heart and decided to go for Music Composition instead (specifically for film).
In November of 2008, York went on strike for three months. So I basically did nothing from November 2008 till the beginning of February 2009. I didn't have school and I didn't get a job. To make up for the strike, York decided to extend our school year into our summer break.
I wrote a lot of music over the school year, and my composing ability has improved tremendously. I also had the opportunity to write music for a film made by one of my friends (who is in the film program). This film was shown in our school's cinema, and it was amazing to hear my music playing in a movie theatre.
Since I wasn't actually in the Music program yet, I had to audition at the end of the school year. The audition went really well, and I was accepted a month ago. So now I am a fully fledged music student at York
I am also currently in the process of scoring another film made by that same friend, and am soooooo close to being done, but I currently have writer's block (or I guess it would be composer's block). I can tell that it is going to turn out really well though.
Hmm, what else did I do this year?
I discovered some more bands and started collecting LPs. I saw Tarja Turunen in concert. I worked in a factory over the summer and I now live in Toronto (permanently, I believe). I don't currently have a job, but I want to get one. I've started planning what country I want to go to on exchange. I'm taking a piano class to improve my playing.
Well, that's all I can think of for now. I know that I didn't upload any art in the past year, but a couple weeks ago I started again with some Tarja pictures. I think I might upload some more art today, and in the coming weeks.
